Contract Type:
JCT
Contract Period:
12 weeks over 2 phases
Client:
NHS Property Services
Project Value:
£280,000
Start on site date:
September 2019
Brief/Scope of works:
Celltarga secured a contract to deliver a fire strategy contract in the St Charles Hospital the scope included fire stopping works to protect fire lines in the building in wards, office areas and corridors. Most of the fire stopping was above the ceiling line.
Works also included the replacement of fire doors in the corridor areas and office spaces.
On completion of the works the areas around required making good and decorations with areas of ceiling tiles requiring replacements.
As the works were3 intrusive in nature a full asbestos survey was undertaken with any asbestos removed prior to the works.
All information was handed over to the client team upon completion in the Health and Safety File and O&M manual.
Challenges:
The works were phased into 2 parts as we worked in a live hospital environment. Prior to works starting in both phases an asbestos investigation was carried out with the asbestos removed under licence.
We worked closely with the trust to phase the works and programme to limit the impact on the hospital and its day-to-day operations.
The works were also in and around the public so extensive signage was required to advise on the period of disruption, works underway and alternative routes people could take to safely negotiate the hospital.
